The School of Languages and Social Sciences is an ambitious, expanding, multidisciplinary School with an established reputation for excellence in teaching and research.
We are seeking to make two appointments, one at Lecturer and another at Senior Lecturer or Reader level in Modern History from 1 April 2018. Strong candidates from any field of nineteenth and/or twentieth century history are encouraged to apply. We expect to make at least one appointment in the field of digital history. You should have experience of teaching History in a Higher Education environment and be able to contribute to the development of the teaching portfolio within the Department. You should have a completed doctorate in a relevant discipline and a strong developing profile of publications and research.
Interviews are anticipated to be held on 20 or 23 November 2017.

The successful candidate will be an internationally recognised scholar and will play a key leadership role in the organization, development and promotion of the academic activities of the School. We would expect an applicant appointed at this level to have the ambition and aptitude to progress to the level of Chair in the coming years.You should have substantial experience of teaching and managing a cognate programme in a Higher Education environment and be able to lead on the development of the teaching portfolio within the Department. You should have a completed doctorate in a relevant discipline and an outstanding profile of publications and research funding.
