The Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Germany) invites applications for a fulltime Post-Doc researcher position in the externally funded project Imre Kertész Kolleg beginning on 1 October 2019.
The Imre Kertész Kolleg Jena is an institute for advanced studies (Käte Hamburger Kolleg) initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of their programme “Freedom for the Humanities”. The Kolleg is devoted to comparative research in the history of 20th century Central and Eastern Europe and offers up to ten fellowships per year for international guest scholars. The Kolleg’s directors are Professor Joachim von Puttkamer and Dr Michal Kopeček. Working languages at the Kolleg are German and English.

JOB DESCRIPTION
In addition to contributing to the general tasks at the Kolleg, you will develop and pursue your own research project. This project should belong to one of two thematic fields:
either “Holocaust Aftermath History” or “The Long Transformation of 1989”
with a focus on their relevance for the history of Central and Eastern Europe.
You will also take part in the preparation of applications for further funding in your research area, the organisation of relevant workshops and conferences, and in preparing the corresponding publications.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in the humanities or social sciences on Eastern Europe
- relevant publications in your research field
Additional experience in external funding applications and project implementation would be very welcome. Place of work is Jena (Germany). It is expected that you will be prepared to travel within Germany and abroad on Kolleg business.
REMUNERATION AND DURATION
Funding of the position is limited to 3 years. Salary will be based on 100 % of TV-L 13.
