Das Zentrum für Holocaust-Studien am Institut für Zeitgeschichte vergibt Stipendien für Forschungsaufenthalte am Zentrum in München im Jahr 2017.

Mit den Fellowships soll die internationale Holocaustforschung unterstützt und angeregt werden. Das Programm richtet sich sowohl an etablierte Forscherinnen und Forscher als auch den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs. Da wir eine größtmögliche internationale Vernetzung anstreben, sind Bewerbungen sowohl aus europäischen wie außereuropäischen Ländern willkommen; Voraussetzung ist ein Thema aus dem Bereich der Holocaustforschung.

Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sollten ihr Interesse an einem Aufenthalt am Zentrum erläutern und darlegen, welche Bestände des Archivs des Instituts für Zeitgeschichte und möglicherweise weiterer deutscher Archive für sie relevant sind. Von den Fellows wird eine rege Teilnahme an den Veranstaltungen und Forschungsdiskussionen des Zentrums ebenso erwartet wie eine Präsentation ihres Themas im Rahmen eines Kolloquiums.

Die Stipendienhöhe richtet sich nach dem akademischen Grad der Bewerberinnen und Bewerber. Es werden Fellowships in drei Kategorien vergeben:

- Junior Fellowships (2000 Euro im Monat): für Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden, in Ausnahmefällen Master-Kandidatinnen und -Kandidaten. Diese Fellowships haben eine Dauer von bis zu vier Monaten.

- Post-Doc Fellowships (3500 Euro im Monat): Für Post-Docs und Habilitandinnen und Habilitanden. Diese Fellowships haben eine Dauer von bis zu vier Monaten.

- Distinguished Fellow (5000 Euro im Monat): für etablierte Forscherinnen und Forscher mit Second Book, Habilitierte und Professoren. Diese Fellowships haben eine Dauer von sechs bis zu zwölf Monaten. Von Distinguished Fellows wird erwartet, dass sie sich aktiv an den Kolloquien und Konferenzen- des Zentrums beteiligen.

Das Zentrum stellt einen Arbeitsplatz mit PC und Telefon sowie Zugang zu einem Drucker / Kopierer zur Verfügung. Darüber hinaus werden einmalig die An- und Abreisekosten übernommen. Die Fellows sind verpflichtet, sich rechtzeitig selbst um ihre Unterkunft sowie ggf. ein Visum und eine Auslands- Krankenversicherung zu kümmern.

Bewerbungen

Bewerbungen – in deutscher oder englischer Sprache – müssen bis zum 1. Januar 2017 eingegangen sein und folgende Unterlagen enthalten:

- ein Motivationsschreiben
- eine bis zu 5-seitige Projektskizze
- ein Lebenslauf inklusive Publikationsliste
- zwei Empfehlungsschreiben (entfällt bei Distinguished Fellowship)

The Center for Holocaust Studies at the Institute for Contemporary History will be offering grants for research stays at the Center in Munich during 2017.

The fellowships are designed to support and foster international Holocaust research. The program is aimed at established as well as younger researchers. As we are interested in a high degree of international cooperation, applications from Europe as well as from all over the world are welcome. A topic within the field of Holocaust Studies is required in order to be eligible for one of the fellowships.

Applicants should explain their interest in a stay at the Center and make clear, which holdings of the Archives of the Institute for Contemporary History and potentially other German archives are relevant to them. The fellows are expected to partake actively in the events and research discussions of the Center as well as present their own topic there.

The stipend level depends on the prior academic degrees of the recipients. Fellowships are awarded in the following three categories:

- Junior Fellowships (2000 Euro per month): for PhD-Candidates (in exceptional cases, for Master Candidates). These fellowships last up to four months each.

- Post-Doc Fellowships (3500 Euro per month): for Post-Docs and those writing a Habilitation. These fellowships last up to four months each.

- Distinguished Fellow (5000 Euro per month): for established researchers with a Second Book, those with a Habilitation and Professors. These fellowships last between six and twelve months. It is expected that Distinguished Fellows actively participate in the colloquia and conferences of the Center.

The Center will offer a workspace with a PC and telephone as well as access to a printer / photocopier. Additionally non-recurring travel to and from Munich will be covered. The fellows are obliged to take care of any necessary visas, housing and health insurance themselves at an appropriate time.

- a motivational letter
- a project proposal (max. 5 pages)
- a curriculum vitae with publication list
- two letters of recommendation (not for applications for Distinguished Fellows)
