Marriage, gender, and the social positioning process

In this call for contributions, we wish to invite researchers to present their historical work on questions studying (the interaction between) marriage and the social positioning process. We welcome proposals that relate to the intra- and intergenerational transfer of economic-, social and cultural capital or the beginning and end of marriages, but are particularly interested in research that examines the interplay between the two. Examples could include, but are not limited to, family marriage strategies, the influence of inheritance regimes on marriage politics, the flow of capital in the broadest sense at the start and end of a marriage.
