Assistant Professor (Indigenous History)

The Department of History at Memorial University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Indigenous History, commencing July 1, 2024 (subject to final budgetary approval). The areas of specialization are open. The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses, and to develop new survey and topical courses in Indigenous History; mentor and supervise honours and graduate students at the MA and PhD levels; and provide support for the Certificate in Indigenous Studies. The successful candidate will respectfully engage with Indigenous communities and support Memorial’s work towards Indigenization and reconciliation (see Memorial’s Strategic Framework for Indigenization and RIIG policy). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association (MUNFA) Collective Agreement. For more information about MUNFA, see https://munfa.ca/.

Candidates will normally hold a PhD in History or relevant discipline from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution at the time of appointment. ABD candidates will be considered with reasonable assurance of their PhD in hand by July 1, 2024.
