The Department of History at Memorial University (Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the History of Race, Colonialism, and/or Diaspora, commencing July 1, 2024 (subject to final budgetary approval). Geographic area and temporal period are open. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable research record or provide evidence of the potential for research excellence; be expected to teach existing courses, as well as develop new survey and topical courses; and supervise honours and graduate students at the MA and PhD levels. Preference will be given to applicants who are Black or a person of colour as per approval granted to the Human Rights Commission pursuant to Section 8 of the Human Rights Act. Candidates will normally hold a PhD in History or relevant discipline from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution at the time of appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience as determined by the Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association (MUNFA) collective agreement.
