The Department of History at Central European University (CEU) is seeking candidates to fill an Assistant Professor position in the field of modern Russian and Soviet History.

This position will continue one of the main research and teaching foci of the Department. We encourage applications from candidates whose training and expertise is in modern Russian and Soviet history in general. In keeping with the Department’s strong emphasis on interdisciplinary to comparative and cross-cultural studies, we invite applicants with a strong interest in comparative study of Empire and in various combinations of social, political, gender, or cultural history. The successful candidate should have an interest and research record in theoretical and comparative historical questions. Applicants should hold a PhD degree.

Compensation:
The initial appointment is for four years, renewable junior rank at the level of assistant professor; salary is negotiable and competitive.
