The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancies in its IC Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH):
Two Doctoral candidates (PhD students) in the field of Contemporary History (M/F)

One doctoral candidate:
The PhD student will be member of the research unit Contemporary History of Luxembourg within the IC Luxembourg Centre of Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) at the University of Luxembourg. He/she will be member of the FNR-funded research project “Soldiers and their communities in WWII: The impact and legacy of war experiences in Luxembourg” (WARLUX). He/she will work under supervision of Ass. Prof. Dr. Denis Scuto.

14 months initial fixed-term contract, renewable up to 4 years Full-time (40 h/week)

Student and employee status (48 months studies programme)

One doctoral candidate:

Your Role
Write a thesis in the domain of social history of Second World War in Luxembourg
Help in realising a database of soldiers and their families
Write a peer-reviewed paper in journal or conference proceedings
Contribute to research in the field of Contemporary History of Luxembourg
Assist the professor in his research and teaching activities
Participate in the FLSHASE Doctoral School and the skills trainings of the Doctoral Training Unit on “Digital History and Hermeneutics”

Your Profile
Master’s degree or diploma in Contemporary History
Good digital literacy
Experience in quantitative research methods
Language knowledge : e.g: excellent command of the following languages: German, English, French
