Die diesjährige Ausgabe der Rechtsgeschichte – Legal History (Rg) bietet auf ihren knapp 500 Seiten wieder eine Auswahl herausragender Aufsätze, Kommentare und Rezensionen zu bedeutenden rechtshistorischen Themen. Leser:innen begegnen darin einige für unser Institut zentrale Forschungsfelder, aber auch anregende Untersuchungen aus vielen anderen Gebieten.
Die Rg 29 steht unter dem traurigen Eindruck von Michael Stolleis‘ Tod im März 2021 und eröffnet mit einem Nachruf auf diesen großen Gelehrten (Thomas Duve). In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten publizierte er regelmäßig Aufsätze und zahlreiche Rezensionen in unserer Zeitschrift; wir werden sein Wissen und seinen Rat sehr vermissen.
Im Recherche-Teil finden sich grundlegende Aufsätze zur Rechtstheorie (Marietta Auer) und zur Rechtsgeschichte als Geschichte von Normativitätswissen (Thomas Duve) neben einem Rückblick auf ein halbes Jahrhundert byzantinischer rechtshistorischer Forschung in Frankfurt (Wolfram Brandes).
Drei foci versammeln Beiträge zur Zirkulation von „legal books“ im frühneuzeitlichen Iberoamerika (hrsg. von Manuela Bragagnolo), zur „oral history“ als Methode der zeitgenössischen europäischen Rechtsgeschichte (hrsg. von Sigfrido Ramírez Pérez und Stefan Vogenauer) sowie Aufsätze aus dem 25th Annual Forum of Young Legal Historians (hrsg. von Wouter De Rycke u.a.).
Aus dreizehn unterschiedlichen Perspektiven blickt ein Forum – inklusive Replik des Autors – auf Martti Koskenniemis eben erschienenes monumentales Werk To the Uttermost Parts of the Earth.
Nach dem reichhaltigen, vielsprachigen Kritik-Teil mit Rezensionen aus diversen Epochen und Weltregionen endet der Band mit zwei Marginalien: Johannes W. Flume analysiert die Konstruktion von Börsengebäuden, während Michael Widener den Fokus zu „legal books“ um eine Analyse exemplarischer Werke aus der Yale Law Library ergänzt – inklusive einer sehenswerten Bildstrecke mit Buchillustrationen vom Spätmittelalter bis zur Gegenwart.
Rechtsgeschichte — Legal History 29 ist als Printausgabe über den Verlag Vittorio Klostermann und online im Open Access über die Webseite der Zeitschrift erhältlich.
