One 1-year postdoctoral position ('assegno di ricerca') entitled “The Italian Peninsula and the World: Restoring Early Modern Global Connections” is available at the University of Tuscia, Viterbo.

Description

The position is funded by the University of Tuscia in order to support the 3-year PRIN project “TRANSWORLDS – Translating Worlds: Towards a Global History of Italian Culture (1450-1914)” (2017-2020), funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. The project’s PI is Prof. Giuseppe Marcocci.

Applicants for this postdoctoral position are required to develop a research proposal about one aspect of the connections between the Italian Peninsula and the world in the period 1450-1800. The post-holder will be asked to carry out inquiries in Italian and foreign archives, as well as to write a book chapter in English and an article in English to be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal, concerning topics related to the research proposal.

Post-doc profile

The ideal candidate must possess a Ph.D., preferably in History, defended by the deadline of the call. He/she is expected to have an excellent command of the English language and to have done research also using sources in languages that are different from Italian and Latin.

Requirements and conditions of the appointment

Applicants must present a research proposal consistent with the title “The Italian Peninsula and the World: Restoring Early Modern Global Connections” (max 10,000 signs), a cv (max four pages) and up to five publications chosen from those that are most representative of their profile (including their Ph.D. thesis).
