Der Verein für Reformationsgeschichte und die US-amerikanische Society for Reformation Research veranstalten vom 18.-21. Juli 2017 im Germanischen Nationalmuseum in Nürnberg eine gemeinsame internationale Tagung zum Thema "Juden, Christen und Muslime im Zeitalter der Reformation". Die Ausgangsthese der Tagung ist, dass sich durch die im Zuge der Reformation erfolgte Binnendifferenzierung des Christentums auch die Beziehungen und Bezugnahmen zwischen Christentum, Judentum und Islam veränderten. Gerade zum Reformationsjubiläum scheint es deshalb aus wissenschaftlichen, aber auch gedenkpolitischen Gründen geboten, das Thema „Juden, Christen und Muslime im Zeitalter der Reformation“ genauer zu erforschen. Dabei sollen Forscher ganz verschiedener Spezialisierungen miteinander ins Gespräch und verschiedene sachliche Ebenen miteinander in Verbindung gebracht werden. Der chronologische Zuschnitts des „Zeitalters der Reformation“ in Europa wird dabei sehr breit gefasst und schließt das gesamte 16. und 17. Jahrhundert ein.

The German Verein für Reformationsgeschichte and the North American Society for Reformation Research are organizing a joint international conference to mark the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation in 2017, to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, between July 18 and 21, 2017. The theme of the conference is "Jews, Christians, and Muslims in the Reformation Era". The working hypothesis of this conference is that the establishment of internal distinctions within Christianity in the wake of the Reformation also altered the relationships and points of reference between Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The upcoming anniversary seems an auspicious moment, for both scholarly and political reasons, to undertake a closer examination of the topic of "Jews, Christians, and Muslims in the era of the Reformation". In order to permit as inclusive and interdisciplinary a conversation as possible, researchers from diverse specializations and research interests related to this topic will be placed into direct conversation with one another. At the same time, the chronological scope of the "Age of Reformation" in Europe would be broadly conceived to include the entire 16th and 17th centuries.
