Forschungsstipendien für internationale Postdocs
für einen Forschungsaufenthalt in Mainz ab Januar 2016 oder später.
Profil
Das Angebot richtet sich an junge Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler (v.a. der Theologie und der Geschichtswissenschaft) aus dem In- und Ausland, die nach Abschluss der Dissertation ein neues For-schungsprojekt in Angriff nehmen. Das IEG bietet ihnen die Chance, Grundlagen für ihre akademische Weiterqualifizierung in wissenschaftlicher Eigenverantwortung zu schaffen. Die Höhe des Postdoc-Stipendiums beläuft sich derzeit auf monatlich
€ 1.800.
Die zu fördernden Projekte sollten auf mindestens 6 bis 12 Monate angelegt sein. Bei Stipendienantritt soll der Abschluss des Promotionsverfahrens nicht länger als drei Jahre zurückliegen (außerwissenschaftliche Tätigkeiten werden nicht eingerechnet). Die Dissertation muss bei Bewerbungsschluss vorliegen. Stipendia-tinnen und Stipendiaten sollen das Deutsche soweit beherrschen, dass sie an wissenschaftlichen Gesprä-chen teilnehmen können. Für ihre Forschungen steht ihnen die gut ausgestattete Spezialbibliothek des IEG zur Verfügung. Es besteht Residenzpflicht in Mainz. Kürzere Reisen zu Archiven, Bibliotheken, auswärtigen Fachleuten und Fachtagungen sind möglich. Postdoc-Stipendiatinnen und -Stipendiaten wohnen und arbei-ten im IEG. Eine Nebenerwerbstätigkeit ist im Rahmen des Stipendiums nicht möglich.
Anforderungen
Das IEG in Mainz fördert Forschungen zu den Grundlagen Europas im Zeitraum von Beginn der Neuzeit bis in die Zeitgeschichte. Im Zentrum der Forschungsbereiche des IEG steht der Umgang mit Differenz in Europa, das heißt mit den Formen der Ermöglichung, Etablierung und Bewältigung von Andersartigkeit und Un-gleichheit in ihren religiösen, politischen und sozialen Dimensionen (http://www.ieg-mainz.de/forschungsbereiche). Von den Postdoc-Stipendiatinnen und -Stipendiaten wird ein vertieftes Inte-resse am wissenschaftlichen Austausch mit den am IEG beschäftigten Forscherinnen und Forschern erwar-tet. Postdoc-Projekte, die sich thematisch in einen der Forschungsbereiche einfügen, sind daher besonders willkommen. Forschungsvorhaben mit theologie-, geistes- und kirchengeschichtlichen Fragestellungen
werden ausdrücklich begrüßt.

The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) awards
Research fellowships for international postdocs

Profile
Applications are invited from young scientists (esp. history and theology) of any national background working on any historical subject, who want to establish a new research project after having completed their dissertation. The IEG research fellowship programme combines research, training, and internation-al networking. Funding is currently € 1800/month.
Research projects should take at least 6 months and up to 12 months. Applicants must have completed the doctoral procedure not dating back more than three years when taking up the fellowship. Fellows should have a solid command of German in order to participate in discussions at the Institute. The Insti-tute’s special library and the wider academic infrastructure of Mainz are available for their research. Fel-lows are obliged to register officially in Mainz and take part in events at the Institute. Short trips to ar-chives, libraries and conferences are possible. Fellows are not permitted to undertake paid work while receiving the IEG scholarship.
Requirements
The IEG promotes research on the historical foundations of Europe from the early modern period to the 20th century. The central theme of the IEG research programme is: negotiating difference – enabling, establishing and confronting religious, political, and social differences in early modern and modern Eu-rope (http://www.ieg-mainz.de/forschungsbereiche). Fellows should be strongly interested in discuss-ing and collaborating with the academic staff of the IEG. Projects referring to one of the IEG research areas are especially welcome. This applies in particular to projects focusing on questions related to the-ology, church history, and intellectual history.

Forschungsstipendien für Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden
aus dem In- und Ausland für einen Forschungsaufenthalt in Mainz ab
Januar 2016 oder später.
Förderprofil
Das Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte (IEG) vergibt Forschungssti-pendien für internationale Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und -wissen-schaftler der Fächer Geschichte oder Theologie oder anderer historisch
arbeitender Wissenschaften. Gefördert werden Forschungsprojekte, die sich mit der Religions-, Politik-, Gesellschafts- und Kulturgeschichte Europas zwi-schen ca. 1450 und ca. 1970 befassen. Besonders willkommen sind verglei-chende, transfergeschichtliche und transnationale Projekte sowie geistes-, kirchen- und theologiegeschichtliche Fragestellungen.
Was wir bieten
Die Höhe des Stipendiums beträgt derzeit monatlich € 1.200. Die Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten arbeiten für 6 bis 12 Monate am eigenen Dissertationsprojekt und haben darüber hinaus die Möglichkeit, je nach Interesse und fachlicher Ausrichtung mit den anderen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern des IEG zusammenzu-arbeiten (www.ieg-mainz.de/forschungsbereiche). Für ihre Forschungen stehen ihnen die Spezialbibliothek des IEG und die weitere Infrastruktur am Wissenschaftsstandort Mainz zur Verfügung.
Voraussetzungen
Die Ausschreibung richtet sich an Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden aller historisch arbeitenden Disziplinen (v.a. der Theologie und Geschichtswissenschaft) aus dem In- und Ausland. Bei Stipendienantritt soll der Beginn der Arbeit an der Dissertation höchstens drei Jahre zurückliegen. Dissertationen werden unter Verantwortung der jeweiligen Betreuerin oder des Betreuers an der Heimatuniversität zum Abschluss gebracht.
Es besteht Präsenz- und Residenzpflicht im Institutsgebäude in Mainz. Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten sollen die deutsche Sprache soweit beherrschen, dass sie an wissenschaftlichen Gesprächen teilnehmen können. Eine Nebenerwerbstätigkeit ist im Rahmen des Stipendiums nicht möglich.

Profile
The IEG awards fellowships for international junior researchers in history, theology and other historical subjects. The IEG promotes research on the historical foundations of Europe from the early modern period to the 20th century, particularly regarding their religious, political and social dimensions. Projects dealing with Europe-an communication and transfer processes as well as projects focusing on questions related to theology, church history and intellectual history are particularly welcome.
What we offer
Funding is currently € 1200/month. Research fellows live and work for at least 6 months and up to 12 months at the Institute in Mainz and can pursue their individual PhD project. They are also invited to collaborate with the academic staff of the IEG, according to their particular fields of interest (http://www.ieg-mainz.de/forschungsbereiche). The IEG special library and the wider academic infrastructure of Mainz are available for their research.
Requirements
Applications are invited from doctoral candidates of any national background. Applicants must have a first degree in history, theology or another historical subject. They should not have pursued their PhD project for more than three years when taking up the fellowship. PhD theses continue to be supervised and are completed under the auspices of the fellows' home universities. Fellows are obliged to register officially in Mainz and to reside and take part in events at the Institute. They need to have a sufficient command of German in order to participate in discussions at the Institute. Fellows are not permitted to undertake paid work while receiving the IEG scholarship.
