Ph.D. Student Position

The University of Konstanz, with its “Institutional Strategy to promote Top-Level Research”, has been receiving continuous funding since 2007 within the framework of the Excellence Initiative by the German Federal and State Governments.

The collaborative research project “MIFARE- Attitudes of migrants towards the welfare state” seeks to study migrants’ welfare state attitudes in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. The project is funded in the framework of NORFACE Welfare state futures.

The Department of Sociology at the University of Konstanz (Germany) offers one position for a Research Assistant in the collaborative research project MIFARE- Migrants attitudes towards the welfare state starting in February 2015 or later. The contract is limited to three years. Remuneration and social benefits are in line with the German public service pay scale (TV-L 13, 65 %).

He/she will support the research team in theory development, data collection and analysis, and is expected to carry out a PhD project. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in sociology, political science or in a related field and should have strong quantitative research skills and a solid knowledge of SPSS or STATA.
