An der Universität Wien ist ab 01.10.2021 die Position einer/eines Universitätsassistent:in ("prae doc") am Institut für Osteuropäische Geschichte zu besetzen.

Kennzahl der Ausschreibung: 12158

Das Institut bietet eine besonders große räumliche, epochale und thematische Vielfalt in der osteuropäischen Geschichte, beteiligt sich aber auch an der Forschung über das Habsburgerreich, insbesondere in Bezug auf die Kronländer. Außerdem ist es verknüpft mit dem Research Center for the History of Transformations, das 2020 auf Basis des an Philipp Ther vergebenen Wittgenstein-Preises begründet wurde.

Das Arbeitsverhältnis ist vorerst auf 1,5 Jahre befristet und wird automatisch auf insgesamt 3 Jahre verlängert, sofern der Arbeitgeber nicht nach längstens 12 Monaten eine Nichtverlängerungserklärung abgibt. Es besteht die Möglichkeit einer Verlängerung auf 4 Jahre.

Beschäftigungsausmaß: 30 Stunden/Woche.
Einstufung gemäß Kollektivvertrag: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc)
Darüber hinaus können anrechenbare Berufserfahrungen die Einstufung und damit das Entgelt bestimmen.

Ihre Aufgaben:
Der/Die Stelleninhaber:in soll während seiner/ihrer Anstellung eine Promotion in einem der beiden folgenden Forschungsbereiche fertigstellen:
Musikgeschichte des späten Habsburgerreiches in ihrem weiteren kultur- und sozialhistorischen Kontext
ODER
Historische Transformationen (angelehnt an einen der Forschungsbereiche des Center for the History of Transformations, siehe https://recet.univie.ac.at).

Zum Stellenbild gehört außerdem die Unterstützung der Professur für Geschichte Ostmitteleuropas in der Forschung, Lehre und Verwaltung. Hinzu kommen die selbständige Abhaltung von Lehrveranstaltungen (im Schnitt 2 SWS), die Betreuung von Studierenden, die Durchführung von Prüfungen, die Mitwirkung bei Evaluierungen und der Verwaltung des Instituts, sowie Zuarbeiten bei Publikationen. Ferner wäre erwünscht, dass die/der Stelleninhaber:in in ihrem/seinem Forschungsgebiet nach 2-3 Jahren einen Drittmittel-Projektantrag stellt, der der eigenen beruflichen Weiterqualifikation dienen soll.
Die Stelle bietet Möglichkeiten der Forschung und Lehre im gesamten Bereich der o.g. Professur, soll aber in erster Linie der Profilierung des Fachs in den o.g. Bereichen dienen.

Ihr Profil:
- Master: abgeschlossenes Studium der Geschichte mit einem Schwerpunkt auf das späte Habsburgerreich ODER der Europäischen Zeitgeschichte.
- Ausgezeichnete Englisch-Kenntnisse sowie sehr gute Deutsch-Kenntnisse.

Beizulegen sind:

Von Vorteil wären außerdem Kenntnisse zusätzlicher Fremdsprachen (Italienisch, Polnisch, Tschechisch, Ungarisch).

University Assistant (prae doc) - University of Vienna

The University of Vienna seeks to fill the position from 01.10.2021 of a University Assistant (prae doc) at the Department of East European History.

Reference number: 12158

The Institute offers a particularly diverse spatial, temporal and topical approach to the history of Eastern Europe, while also contributing to research on the Habsburg Empire and the crown lands in particular. Furthermore, it is linked to the Research Center for the History of Transformations (RECET), founded in 2020 and funded by the Wittgenstein award granted to Philipp Ther.

The employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months. There is the possibility of an extension up to 4 years.

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
During his/her time at the department, the employee is expected to complete a PhD in one of the two following research areas:

The Prae-Doc will support the professor for the history of Central Eastern Europe in relation to research, teaching and administration. He/She should organize his/her own lectures (2 hours/semester), supervise students, conduct exams, participate in evaluations as well as the department's administration, and contribute material for publications. Furthermore, he/she is encouraged to submit an application for external funding in his/her research area (after about 2-3 years) that should benefit his/her future career.
The position offers research and teaching possibilities in all areas of the above-mentioned professorship; however, the employee should primarily contribute to the establishment of the research areas mentioned above.

Profile:
- Master's degree: degree in history with a focus on the late Habsburg monarchy OR European contemporary history.
- Excellent command of English and very good command of German.
