2 positions as research associates with 2/3 part-time employment – E 13 TV-L HU (third party funding - limited until 28.02.2025).

2 Research Associates

Job Description/Responsibilities:

- research in the field of African history
- conducting a study on changes of labour forms and labour relations in a rural area of Ghana (cocoa-producing area/Northwestern savannah region) between 1951 and 2010 by using both quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g. interviews; archival research, and analysis of census data)
- pursuing a PhD in African history

Applicant Requirements:

- MA or equivalent degree in modern history, social sciences, anthropology or African studies (with a focus on history)
- very good written and spoken English
- excellent teamwork skills
- prior lived and/or research experience in an African country

Desirable

- experience in archival work and conducting interviews
- knowledge of a local Ghanaian language
- excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to cope with a busy workload.
