Conference reporters wanted!
On behalf of the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Intergenerational Affairs, Family, Women and Integration, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH is looking for graduates interested in reporting during the 13th International Metropolis Conference "Mobility, Integration and Development in a Globalised World". The conference will take place from 28 to 30 October 2008 in Bonn. The task of the reporters will be to document the discussions and main results (plenary sessions and working groups) using a standardised reporting format.
The 13th International Metropolis Conference aims to improve links between major actors in the field of migration, development and integration. It offers a unique platform for intercultural dialogue and networking. Approximately 1,000 participants from all parts of the world and all sectors of society will take part – politics, public administration, science and research, business and civil society. The conference is being hosted by the Ministry of Intergenerational Affairs, Family, Women and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and organised by Metropolis International, a Canadian non-profit organisation.
Qualifications
The conference reporters should have the following qualifications:
University graduates or post-graduates
Familiarity with conference topics and relevant discussions
Fluent English - spoken and written
Experience in journalism and/or writing and editing
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the reporters include:
Documenting workshop proceedings and plenary discussions (standardised format)
Same-day submission of reports
Revision of texts in accordance with the coordinators' instructions
Availability for other supporting tasks as required by the coordinators
Working times
Full-time during the conference from October 28 to October 30, 2008 in Bonn (a detailed work schedule will be drawn up at the beginning of October)
Participation in an interview in Bonn in mid-August 2008
Attendance at a conference briefing in Bonn in mid-October 2008
Working conditions and remuneration:
Flat-rate fee of EUR 100 per day
Laptops, printers and internet access will be provided at the conference venue. A lump sum of EUR 100 Euro will be paid to students who supply their own laptops during the three days
Students will be contracted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH
