The Centre for British Studies is an interdisciplinary teaching and research institute within the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The following part-time (1/2), fixed-term (for a maximum of 6 years) position is vacant as of 1 October 2008:
Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (Junior Lecturer/Researcher) in British History.
Responsibilities: Teaching courses on British history (in English); tutoring and supervising postgraduate students; research on British history, preferably with an interdisciplinary agenda, on PhD or post-doc level; collaboration in the organisation and ongoing development of the postgraduate "Master in British Studies" course, and in other activities at the Centre for British Studies.
Requirements: A very good first university degree in history or a related interdisciplinary field, a good active knowledge of German, and the ability to work in a team.
Interest and experience in one or more of the following areas are desirable: comparative history, history of cultural exchange, transnational history.
Additionally, interest and experience in one or more of the following areas are desirable: website maintenance, alumni relations, public relations, organising internships.
Salary: Governed by the standard public sector salary scheme for graduates as applicable to the Humboldt-Universität, BAT IIa-O pro rata (50%).
