Dear Colleagues:
I am assembling a panel proposal for the 1998 conference of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR, to be held June 18-20 at the University of Maryland, College Park) on post-World War II U.S.-German relations, specifically regarding the following areas: (1) "denazification;" (2) U.S. policies toward schools and universities; and (3) the general realm of education and cultural affairs.
My own proposed paper deals with denazification at Leipzig and Heidelberg Universities and the response of German academics to U.S. denazification policies at these and other universities.
