This special issue, edited by Dr Diana Pelaz Flores features six insightful studies of the households of queens and infantas (or princesses) from the medieval kingdoms of Castile and Aragon between the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries. These studies, along with the editor's introduction to the collection, illuminate the workings and significance of female royal households as a locus of power and influence and demonstrate various strategies of household administration, finance and governance.
The articles in this issue are connected to the MUNARQAS project, specifically “Espacios femeninos cortesanos: Ámbitos curiales, relaciones territoriales y prácticas políticas” [PI: Diana Pelaz Flores, PGC2018-099205-A-C22], a research project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Agencia Estatal de Investigación, and the European Regional Development Fund.
