The Institute of Intellectual History is pleased to announce a call for papers dedicated to the 20th publication anniversary of Robert M. Beren Professor of Government Eric Nelson’s first book “The Greek Tradition in Republican Thought” (Cambridge University Press, 2004), which will take place at the University of St Andrews on the 15th of February, 2025.

The Greek Tradition in Republican Thought 20th publication anniversary

Early career researchers who are engaging with political ideas surrounding central concepts of ancient Greek moral and political philosophy outlined in Professor Nelson’s book (such as related to questions of justice, property rights, and freedom not defined as non-dependence) and have engaged with the Greek Republican Tradition in their own work are particularly encouraged to apply.
