The historical journal Monde(s), Histoire, Espace, Relations, is the first French journal of global history. It encourages innovative historical research on international phenomena from a global perspective, rather than an exclusively Western vision of the world. Its ambition is to serve as a catalyst for new historical research on global history covering all areas of historiography, providing a forum for debate between different methodological and geographical approaches. All areas of global history, such as circulations (of ideas, culture, people, goods, money), networks, conflicts or conflict resolution (institutional or informal), are concerned.

Published by Armand Colin, Monde(s)’s first issue will be released in April 2012. Each issue has a thematic section and a varia section. The first issue’s thematic section will deal with “The Transnational Debate” (edited by Sabine Dullin and Pierre Singaravélou). The second issue’s thematic section will analyse the notion of “Empire” (edited by Pierre Boiley and Antoine Marès).

Each issue will be divided into three parts: a long thematic section, a‘varia’ section of articles concerning various topics, and a debate on an outstanding book. Articles will be published in French and in English.

The Editorial Committee welcomes the submission of articles on contemporary global history since the 19th century. Each article will be evaluated by an anonymous peer-review process. Once accepted, articles will be published in the ‘varia’ section of the journal.

Proposals (6.500 words or 40.000 characters) in French or in English may be submitted to: gisele.borie (at) univ-paris1.fr. Articles can be submitted in French or in English. No deadline: Permanent Call for papers.
