The Centre for German-Jewish Studies invites applications for the Mac Goldsmith travel grants.
Applicants can be academics at all levels who would like to conduct research in the Centre for German-Jewish Studies Archive. We also welcome applications from students that wish to work in the archive as trainees.
Since the Centre for German-Jewish Studies at the University of Sussex was established in 1994, it has attracted the deposit of various collections that reflect the study of political, social, literary and intellectual German-Jewish history, in particular the history of Jewish refugees and their families to the United Kingdom during and after the Second World War. Many of the collections comprise personal papers and memoirs, descriptions of which are available here. Not all of the Centre’s holding are catalogued. For the collection please email Dr Gideon Reuveni, the Director of the Centre.
The successful candidates will receive a grant towards travel costs (£600max).
Applications should include a brief project outline, a covering letter outlining the research project and a CV including a list of publications. Those applying for a traineeship should submit two reference assessments indicating the status of the applicant and his/her work.
Deadline for the application is 20th February 2015.
