Die Goethe Universität sucht Bewerber(innen) für eine Postdoc-Stelle im Rahmen des neuen Projektverbundes “Afrikas Asiatische Optionen: Frankfurter Inter-Zentren-Programm zu neuen afrikanisch-asiatischen Interaktionen” (AFRASO), der gemeinsam vom Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Afrikaforschung (ZIAF) und vom Interdisziplinären Zentrum für Ostasienstudien (IZO) getragen wird. Das AFRASO-Forschungsprogramm wird vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) über einen Zeitraum von mindestens vier Jahren finanziert. Die Postdoc-Stelle ist im Rahmen des interdisziplinären Forschungsschwerpunkts „Transregionale Raumkonstruktionen“ zu besetzen. Die/der Bewerber(in) wird ein eigenständiges Forschungsprojekt zu „African-Asian Digital Encounters“ durchführen wie z.B. zu afrikanisch-asiatischen Interaktionen im Internet und in sozialen Netzwerken. Die inhaltliche Ausgestaltung des Projekts obliegt der Stelleninhaberin/dem Stelleinhaber. Weitere Informationen zum Projektkontext unter www.afraso.org.
Zu den Aufgaben der Stelleninhaberin / des Stelleninhabers gehören die Mitarbeit im interdisziplinären Forschungszusammenhang von AFRASO, Feldforschung in Afrika und Asien, Beiträge zu wissenschaftlichen Publikationen und Vorträgen als Haupt- oder Mitautor(in), nach Möglichkeit Verfassen einer Monographie im Themenfeld des Projekts.
Einstellungsvoraussetzungen und Berufserfahrung: Promotion in den Geistes- oder Sozialwissenschaften; Erfahrungen in der Forschung über und in Afrika und/oder Asien; Fachwissen im Bereich Neue Medien/Cyberspace; Erfahrung mit interdisziplinärer Forschung. Die Stelle wird zunächst auf zwei Jahre besetzt und kann um ein weiteres Jahr verlängert werden. Die Einstellung erfolgt zum 1. Januar 2014.

Goethe University seeks applicants for a part time postdoctoral position that will be affiliated with the university's new research programme “Africa’s Asian Options: Frankfurt Inter-Centre Programme on New African-Asian Interactions” (AFRASO) that is jointly organised by the Centre for Interdisciplinary African Studies (ZIAF) and the Interdisciplinary Centre of East Asian Studies (IZO) of Goethe University. The AFRASO research programme is funded by a special grant from the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Research of Germany. The postdoctoral position will be part of an interdisciplinary research focus on “Transregional Constructions of Space”. The candidate will conduct a research project on “African-Asian Digital Encounters” (e.g. African-Asian interactions on the internet / in digital media, African-Asian social networks in cyberspace; details to be determined by applicant). The responsibilities and activities of the postdoc include involvement in interdisciplinary work in the research centre; field work in Africa and Asia; the contribution to scholarly publications and presentations as a lead or co-author; ideally a monograph in the horizon of the research projects.
Qualifications and preferred experience: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences. They should have experience in research on and in Africa and/or Asia; expertise in new media/cyberspace studies; experience with interdisciplinary research. The appointment will be for 2 + 1 years, starting 1 January 2014.
