An der Fakultät für Kulturwissenschaften ist zum Wintersemester 2015/16 eine
Professur (W 2) auf Zeit (6 Jahre/tenure track) für Judaistik
zu besetzen.
Die Stelleninhaberin/der Stelleninhaber hat ausgewiesene Forschungserfahrung und entsprechende Publikationen im Bereich der
Talmudischen Spätantike oder im Bereich der Islamischen Zeit. In Absprache mit den Kollegen am Institut für den Nahen und Mittleren Osten deckt sie/er nach Möglichkeit beide Bereiche in Forschung und Lehre ab. Insbesondere sind die einschlägigen Lehrveranstaltungen in den Bachelor- und Masterstudiengängen „Naher und Mittlerer Osten“ abzuhalten sowie entsprechende Abschlussarbeiten zu betreuen. Darüber hinaus wird die Beteiligung am geplanten interfakultären Masterstudiengang „Jüdische Studien“ und an den einschlägigen Promotionsprogrammen der LMU erwartet.
Die LMU wendet sich mit dieser Ausschreibung insbesondere an hochqualifizierte Nachwuchswissenschaftler und Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen, die im Anschluss an ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium und eine überdurchschnittliche Promotion durch ihre Leistungen in Forschung und Lehre ein außerordentliches Potenzial für eine weitere Karriere in der Wissenschaft nachgewiesen haben. Die Berufung erfolgt bei Vorliegen der beamtenrechtlichen Voraussetzungen in einem Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit für die Dauer von sechs Jahren. Bei positiver Evaluation der fachlichen, pädagogischen und persönlichen Eignung kann das Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit frühestens nach drei Jahren in ein Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit umgewandelt werden.
Im Rahmen des LMU Academic Career Program besteht in besonderen
Ausnahmefällen und bei herausragenden Leistungen in Forschung und Lehre die Möglichkeit einer späteren Anhebung der Professur von W 2 nach W 3.

The Faculty of Cultural Studies invites applications for a
Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track) of Judaic Studies
commencing on October 1st, 2015.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding research and
publication record either in the Talmudic Late Antiquity or in the
Islamic Period. He or she will be expected to undertake research and
teaching as far as possible both fields in close cooperation with his or
her colleagues at the Institute of Near and Middle Eastern Studies. The successful candidate will teach the pertinent courses of the bachelor and master programs in “Near and Middle Eastern Studies” and will supervise corresponding theses. He or she is also expected to
participate in the planned interfacultary master program in “Judaic
Studies” as well as in the pertinent Ph.D. programs.
LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this
professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university and a doctoral degree. With an excellent record in research and
teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the
potential for an outstanding academic career.
The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three
years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
Under the terms of the “LMU Academic Career Program”, in exceptional cases and subject to outstanding performance in research and teaching, the position may be converted from a W2 into a W3 Full Professorship at a later date.
