10.09.2018-15.09.2018, Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, Romania; Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, Germany; Eötvös Lorand University Budapest, Hungary

Target Group: The call is open for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. All participants are provided with free accommodation in university dormitories (in double rooms, for 7 nights) and two meals/ day during their stay in Cluj. Travel expenses, health insurance and others are to be covered by themselves.

Preliminary: The Summer Academy is the result of several years of cooperation between the three universities, especially in the fields of history and cultural studies. The first editions of the Summer Academy were held in 2016 in Tübingen (Diversity and Empire: The Habsburg Monarchy in the “long” 19. Century) and in 2017 in Budapest (Nation/ State/ Diversity in the Danube Region, 1918–1948).

Structure: The main focus of the Summer Academy is directed on the particular experiences of the Danube Region with ‘diversities’ from a historical perspective – understood not as a problem, but one of the regions advantages. It is structured by key notes of distinguished scholars, participants’ presentations of current research projects and workshops conducted on texts and essential literature connected to the fields of the key notes and presentations.

Application: Applicants are asked to send a CV and a letter of motivation, in English. The selected participants will be asked to prepare a research presentation. They will receive a reader with intro-ductory texts to prepare in advance. The languages used at the summer academy will be English and German. Please send your application not later than 1.07.2018 via e-mail to: Dr. Ioana Florea, ioana.florea@ubbcluj.ro
